My Mother's Eyes

My mother's Eyes

Today I felt the anger, of the yesterdays', of pain.
To look into my mother's eyes, and never feel the same.
To see a woman nursing death, remain so strong, yet sad.
Caress her dying mother's face and grasp to life she had.

For all the tears fall freely, not feathers in the wind.
Just hopelessness and helplessness, the "where do I begins?"
The angels soaring high above, below them saw a growing love.
The dying woman, mama nursed. May other's ignorance be cursed.

Such flattery, the treachery, emaciation, grief.
To even think the lord above, as nothing but a thief.
To see a woman lost in body, unable more to live.
A blessing now in memories, is all that she can give.

Touched by angels, mother's hands and knowing eyes so tired.
To witness all the beautiful, my mother's love admired.
The hands of time, to never cease.
Another now, does rest in peace.
Where life goes on, not quite the same.
At least an end, to someone's pain.

To live to see another day. To love, but never need to say.
The windows of the soul, the song. To share, to hold the truth- our bond.
To always feel them in your heart, and know to never drift apart.
To let them know you've always cared. A past and present still be shared.

To look into my mother's eyes and never feel the same.
To feel the loss of one she loves,in life my greatest pain.
To see the tears fall freely, just feathers in the wind.
A hint of new awakenings, and where it all begins,

For paths be crossed if paths be found. To love, to hold and hearts be bound.
I love you mum, so very much, and in this world a heart you've touched.
Protecting me and teaching me. A life I live so free.
We'll always know beyond the end, our love forever be.

My Mother's Eyes - Steven Clay Walker
This poem I wrote after watching my mother nurse her own, when that hideous thing called cancer entered our lives. I dedicate this to my mother Pamela Doris Wendt - an angel, and to my belated grandma Augusta Dorothy Phillips Wendt who now soars amongst them x
